Green Paper: Transforming public procurement

29 January 2021      Ashley Shelbrooke, HEPA and Project Specialist

HEPA members will no doubt have noted the launch of the Cabinet Office’s Green Paper focused on transforming public procurement.  You can read the Green Paper and view the consultation questions here.  The proposals aim to “cut red tape and make it easier for smaller businesses to win government contracts”.

Members are invited to join the policy team behind the Green Paper to explore its contents at a series of free events throughout February run by the Cabinet Office’s International & Reform Team; you can register your place here.

As is to be expected a number of articles have been produced by professional services firms during January, such as Bevan Brittan’s chapter-by-chapter Green Paper summary which you can read here.

What do you think about the Green Paper - what does it mean for your institution and suppliers? Heads of Procurement and Finance Directors can join the conversation on the discussion boards now.

The green paper will also feature in workshop 17 – Transforming Public Procurement after Brexit and Covid – on Procurement Wednesday at the BUFDG conference in March.
