Have you ever run a procurement process, and then learned at the end there was a much better way to have conducted it? An alternative procedure which would have solved some problems or resulted in a better outcome? Have you been challenged by a supplier and wished you had known something earlier? What are the most common and costly legal mistakes procurement professionals make in the course of their role? How can you ensure you minimise the risk of being challenged during or after a process? Leading Procurement Lawyer, David Hansom will run a one day course for us on 19th April in London covering all of the above and giving you some practical strategies to enable you to take your procurement to the next level. Entitled “Legal focus; Practical procurement strategies to minimise risk and maximise value” the event will not be a standard legal updates course, it will be tailored to the HE sector and will focus on sensible procurement advice based on David’s 14 years’ experience of answering questions and resolving disputes on a daily basis.
David’s key tip for today: “The letter you send informing unsuccessful candidates of the outcome of a procurement process should be the most important letter you write. When weeks or months of work result in the receipt of a hurriedly written impersonal letter at 5pm on a Friday, disappointment and suspicion may lead a supplier to dispute your decision, especially if the information the letter contains causes the supplier to question if an error may have been made. Take your time to communicate the outcome of the procurement process, clearly, effectively and appropriately and you will save yourself and your institution much time and money”
Limited places are available at just £180 per person which includes a full day training and lunch.
