GDPR & Data Protection Update
It is now nearly 3 years since the GDPR was enshrined in UK law, and during this time the ICO (the UK’s Data Protection Regulator) have issued significant amounts of guidance, enforcement and fines. There have also been a number of changes within the data privacy landscape following the recent Schrems II decision (July 2021) and the impact of Brexit on data transfers.
During this session, Louise Sadler, privacy specialist at BDO will walk through some of the recent updates in data privacy, as well as practical takeaways for Finance and Procurement professionals followed by a Q&A session. Louise will also offer key insights, and trends she has seen within her work with Universities in the last year.
The session will include:
- Impact on the fall out of the Schrems II decision, and the resulting invalidation of the EU-US Privacy Shield
- Update on Brexit and the implications on data protection (pending UK adequacy decision)
- Data Protection compliance considerations for Finance and procurement
